Detailed Liquid Lime Information

Depending upon soil pH, the application and your expected goals, expect to use between 1 and 8 gallons per acre of AGGRAND Natural Liquid Lime. For large commercial accounts this can bring your cost down as low as $11 per acre. Even small commercial accounts can can pay as little as $13/acre.

For bulk conventional lime, it normally takes as much as 2 tons to affect a 1 point adjustment, and it can easily take 9-18 months or more for this to occur. At a bulk price of $30/ton, that puts your cost up to $60 per acre for conventional lime for a SLOW 1 point pH adjustment. In addition, for conventional lime to be at all effective, you have to spend the time to till it in, and you can't apply it in the same application with your fertilizer - which requires an additional application. Of course, there is also the issue of the dust, which is a pain for you and for anyone that lives within close proximity of your fields. Worse yet, you have to have room to store it and keep it dry in order to apply it.

Our liquid lime, on the other hand, is easy to store, since you need so little of it. You don't have to worry about keeping it dry. First of all, it's bottled. Second of all, you mix it with water at application anyway, so you could even apply it in the rain. Even more convenient is that you can apply AGGRAND liquid lime in the same mix as our liquid organic fertilizer, so there are no EXTRA lime applications necessary. Once on the field for both fertilization and liming.

AGGRAND Natural Lime contains limestone that is very finely ground and mixed with water to form a suspension. In fact, it is up to 5-6 times as finely ground as the limestone in many conventional bagged lime products. The smaller particles dissolve more quickly and penetrate the soil profile much more easily. Applied in sufficient amounts, you CAN affect a fast pH adjustment, but it would require at least 6-8 gallons per acre for any significant change.

A more efficient approach, and the one we actually recommend, is using our product more as a "buffer" than as an actual pH adjuster. Applying just a gallon per acre of our liquid lime 2-3 times per season provides excellent crop growth and health without the worry of actually adjusting the soil pH.

5.0 soil pH? No big deal. Plants will grow just fine, even under these very acidic soil conditions. Just "fool" the plants into thinking the soil has neutral pH with a gallon per acre of our liquid lime. Applied 3 times per season at a cost of about $10-$13/acre, your total "liming" expenses would only be about $30/acre. We have numerous farmers and food plot growers that have been growing effectively in very low pH soild for years, just by using a gallon per acre of our liquid lime a few times per season.

AND - NO TILLING IS NECESSARY

How much labor savings can you accumulate by avoiding the necessity of extra lime applications and tilling to get it down into the soil? What is that worth to you? What about avoiding the headache of lime storage, application dust and trying to time your applications between spring rainfall?

The deeper penetration of the liquid lime solution is especially effective on turf and other permanent groundcovers where it is impractical to till in bagged lime products. Quick action and deeper penetration green up plants quickly by making Nitrogen more readily available.

Soil liming also provides added long term effects. It increases microbial activity and the proliferation of earthworms and beneficial insects. This added side effect improves soil tilth which facilitates increased penetration and holding capacity of water and nutrients, and better soil aeration. Also, earthworms pull thatch down into their dens and eat it producing humus (decomposed organic matter). By increasing the earthworm population, lawn thatch is reduced and soil organic matter is increased.
